CONSIDER THIS 9-18-09

“I pay the schoolmaster, but it is the school boys who educate my son.”?
~Ralph Waldo Emerson, 1803-1882~

Students learn much from textbooks, but they also learn valuable lessons from their classmates and friends. What lessons have you learned at school that have nothing to do with books?

  2. I have learned many lessons from my friends. My friends have taught me to not be walked on. My friends have given me confidence that helps me in life and at school. Without the confidence I have I would not be able to do as well as I do.

  3. I have learned that you can't trust the people who seem trustworthy. You also can't go through highschool without having drama. You can say you will, but you will have drama, no matter what.

  4. How to make money and not get into trouble doing it. As long as my friends stay loyal i can learn alot from them. How to clean and maintain a computer and how to do diagnostics on a desktop through a laptop.

  5. I have learned quite a few things that haven't been from the book. It helps to talk about study habbits with your friends. And sometimes if you don't understand homework and your teacher isn't around it is best to get help from a friend because they are looking at is as the same view point as you.

  6. I've learned about the best times to go places during lunch. Like when it rains, subway is a good place to go cause no one wants to walk there. Walking to Hucks during Spring fling is a bad idea...unless you like getting hit with water. They've taught my several things, some good some bad. All I know is the ones I do use, usually are good.

  9. I have learned about society from seeing classmates. Some people may be considered weird, or not cool, but they're still people. Whether you like them or not, don't sit there and slander and make fun of them. They don't deserve that, and you wouldn't appreciate if someone made fun of you. Think about things before you say them, don't be a jerk. You never know when karma could come back to bite you.

  13. One thing that I have learned from the other people I attend school with is how to treat people. Through interacting with other students and the teachers, you learn how other people want to be treated and how you should treat them. This is one important skill that I will use for the rest of my life t hat has nothing to do with textbooks.

  14. I've learned that friends are something you need to have. Without them you are very lonely! I've also learned that you need to be nice to everyone even if you don't know them because it will have a positive impact on them and then they will be nice back to you... hopefully!

  17. My friends and classmates have taught me many lessons. My friends have taught me not to lie to them about things or you will regret the things you do. Classmates, when you need the help on homework assignments and the teacher is not able to help you they do come in handy.

  22. I learned that paying for lunch every day really adds up. That most of the things people say about others are not true. I also learned that if you don't talk about people you will avoid most drama.

  33. I have learned lessons in school that books can never teach kids. Like if you get in a wreck with your best friend she will still be your best friend! And also if you cheat on test your most definatly going to get a big Fat ZERO! and that is no fun! Also if your tardie to many times teachers start to get angry with you.

  35. There is so much that I have learned that has nothing to do with books. I have learned that you should always be nice to people even if you don't like them, because Karma will come back and get you. Keep everything you don't want talked about private, because people love to talk. At school you learn from your classes, but it's also important to gain street smarts and communication skills at school.

  37. Don't ever run to class. It makes you look like a freshman who's afraid of being late to class. If you knew you were going to be late, just get there when you get there. Don't hurry along and hope your teacher doesn't notice, because majority of the time that do notice.

  38. I learn so much more from those around me than I do in the classroom. I believe that the lessons we learn from those around us stay with us forever. You should pay more attention to those lessons than anything.
